RoboCup 2007 Day 5 is done and we got lots of pictures and video for you. Unfortunately, I forgot my firewire
adapter, so the video will have to wait till I return, but I do have some pictures to wet your appetite.

I have a nice video of a semi-final round between the Freisburg Nimbro team and the Darmstadt Dribblers .

There's also an interview with Bruno Maisonnier from Aldebaran Robotics along with pictures.

Stay tuned for more pictures and video, and maybe even a sneak peek at Ugobe's Pleo robot!

Image RoboCup 2007 is going on right now (July 3rd - 10th)  in Atlanta GA, on the campus of Georgia Tech University.

This international competition pits teams of robotic soccer players against each other.

This year will see the addition of the brand new "Nanogram Demonstration challenges", where robots in the 10s to 100s of micrometers in size, are required to manipulate objects and perform certain tasks. The competition will take place under a microscope (!) and will be broadcasted to large screens for the audience to see.

Stay tuned for more GoRobotics.net coverage this weekend.

Just a quick note that after a brief hiatus, GoRobotics.net should be back in business. I appreciate everyone's patience in letting me take some time off to work on my Masters Degree and to get married. The degree isn't done yet, but I should have a bit more time on my hands to blog.

GoRobotics.net is going to be covering the RoboCup 2007 finals this weekend in Atlanta GA. Stay tuned for lots of pictures and video!

Robot Rescues Fugitive from Seoul Sewer

In more robot news from Asia, here's an interesting story about a sewer inspection robot that was used to locate a fugitive who'd hidden in the city sewer. The man, who'd stolen a woman's purse, escaped into a sewer pipe. Unfortunately, he'd been stripped of his clothes while fleeing, and he chose an exceptionally cold time to do so - the temperature was 34 degrees F.

The robot located the man, who'd apparently gotten lost in the pipes. The robot, a sewage pipe inspection robot, has six wheels and comes equipped with a camera.

Here's a video of a Korean Japanese news report on the event:
