A Look Inside ASIMO's Head

Ever wondered what all is going on inside of ASIMO's head? Honda has a great page listing some of the technology that ASIMO is using and the many cool tricks he can perform.

Some examples include ASIMO's ability to recognize where a person is pointing and move there. Looking at the accompanying image, it appears that he triangulates the location based on a line drawn from the hand/finger and the eyes. The intersection of that line is where he should move to. ASIMO also has face and gesture recognition, environment recognition used to sense and move around obstacles. ASIMO can also track and follow ~~its human prey~~ objects.

Even more impressive is that all of these videos are from almost three and a half years ago!
