Robot Submarine Used to Photograph Ancient Greek Wreck |

 A robot created by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI), with help from MIT, has taken 7,000 photographs of an ancient greek vessel that wrecked in 350BC. For over 2,300 years the vessel has remained hidden. The ship, which was laden with over 400 ceramic jars, was photographed by the "SeaBed" robot. WHOI has developed other well known underwater vehicles, like ARGO, that found the Titanic, and JASON.
Over the course of 4 dives, the robot took thousands of pictures and sonar measurements which were then assembled into a mosaic image of the wreck. Using ordinary means, such measurements would have taken a team of divers years to complete.
