ImageA group of students and faculty at Dartmouth University College have created a robot to function in arctic weather and is solar powered. Such a robot was comissioned by NASA to aid in research in the antarctic.

NASA's goal is to use the robot to search for evidence of bacteria in Antarctic snow. The project would serve as a template for any future efforts to explore the terrain of Mars in search of life.

The team was able to sucessfully test the robot in Greenland, where there are similar weather patterns to the antarctic. Potential uses include measuring magnetic fields, testing "ice-runways" for safety, and for porting equipment over long distances.

The robot is named "Cool Robot." Clever.

It's Dartmouth College. There's no such thing as Dartmouth University.
